Diabetic Examinations

Diabetic retinopathy, or damage in the back of the eye from uncontrolled blood sugar, is the leading cause of blindness in America in people under the age of 60. These changes often do not have any symptoms in the early stages. Because the eye is the only part of the body where we can view blood vessels directly, dilated retinal exams should be done annually to identify any changes early. If detected, we can work with your primary care doctor or endocrinologist to help prevent permanent vision loss.
